MCCOMB, Miss – A drive-by shooting killed a 6-year-old boy and injured four others at a Mississippi park last weekend, authorities revealed.

“SHOOTING INVESTIGATION: McComb Police are investigating after a juvenile male was shot and killed.

According to officials, four other people were shot during the drive-by shooting at the park behind McComb High School”, news reporter Kayla Thompson Tweeted.

The shooting erupted on Sunday when the victims were playing basketball in the park. Later the state authorities issued murder charges on 4 suspects aged between 17 to 19, the Enterprise-Journal revealed.

According to Pike County Coroner Wally Jones’s statement, the gunfire occurred around 4:50 pm on Sunday. The 6-year-old was pronounced dead at the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, he told WLBT-TV.

The four suspects who are now in police custody have been identified as Bryceon Thompson, Bryan Cameron, both 18,  Yajari Jackson, 19, and Malik Reed, 17.

All are charged with ‘one count of capital murder and four counts of aggravated assault manifesting extreme indifference to human life’, as per the court’s documentation.

It is yet to identify if the suspects had an attorney to represent them in court and comment on the charges.

The officials did not release the ages of the remaining four victims who got wounded during the shooting.
