Eight people were killed, and another individual was seriously wounded when a gunman attacked three different massage parlors in Atlanta. A 21-year-old individual named Robert Aaron Long has been arrested from South Georgia. He is suspected to have carried out the attacks.
The motive behind the shootings is still unknown.
Atlanta police received a call for a robbery in progression around 6 p.m. When they reached the crime scene, three women were already dead.
After some time, they heard shots being fired across the street in another Asian massage parlor that left another woman dead on the spot. All four victims were women of Asian descent.
According to the reports, around 5 p.m. five people were shot at Young’s Asian Massage Parlor in Acworth, located 30 miles north of Atlanta. Two of the victims were found dead at the spot while two of the wounded women succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The victims included two Asian women, one white woman, and a man. The fifth victim who was taken to the hospital is a Hispanic man.
The police believe that it is highly likely that the same gunman killed these eight people in three different massage parlors. The video evidence suggests that the suspect is the same individual. Robert Long was arrested from South Georgia.
Governor Brian Kemp released an official statement sending his condolences to the victims’ families. He wrote that his entire family is praying for the victims of these violent attacks in the massage parlors. He also thanked the law enforcement officers for arresting the suspect immediately before he could escape.
The identity of the victims is not revealed yet. Atlanta police have increased surveillance in the nearby areas.
