On Friday night, at least eight people died in Houston during the Astroworld music event as an enormous crowd gathered around the stage area and people started to suffocate.

Fire Chief Sam Pena of Houston told reporters that people started to fall out, get unconscious, and it generated extra fear.

He said that it was a terrible night.

The Harris County Judge, Lina Hidalgo, remarked that their hearts are devastated. He said that it’s common for people to attend these events in search of fun, relaxation, and making new memories. It’s not the kind of event where you expect to hear about deaths.  He further said that as a community, they’ve gone through a lot and this would be the last place they would want to be. However, we have some of the best police officers in the world working for us.

Day 2 of the performance was canceled as soon as the first day was through.

NRG Park hosted the event. Fans had flocked to watch Travis Scott and other artists play. According to the fire chief, the throng numbered over 50,000.

At the same occasion in 2019, there was a less terrible panic, but Scott nonetheless played there.

There was a serious injury to a 10-year-old kid. The identities of the dead were being verified by authorities. Troy Finner, Houston Police Chief, said that they don’t even know who these people are.

At least 11 individuals were in cardiac arrest and requiring CPR when they were rushed to the hospital by Houston authorities. The medical examiner will identify the cause of demise for the eight people that died.

At least 300 people were treated at a field hospital that was set up on the property itself.

Doctors and nurses had been employed for the event, but they were rapidly overwhelmed by the tragedy.

Houston fire authorities tweeted about 3 a.m. CT that festival-goers who were looking for lost family members or friends might join on Kirby St at the Wyndham Hotel.

Saturday morning, the festival issued a statement in which it asked anybody with knowledge about what occurred to contact police in Houston directly.

Astroworld Festival stated that their hearts are with the Astroworld’s family tonight particularly those who have lost their loved ones. The statement further said that they want to assist local authorities in whatever way possible. So, the event will no longer take place on Saturdays.

Investigators will be able to study the footage of Live Nation’s concert in question thanks to their cooperation, according to Finner.

242 security personnel and 367 police officers were present, according to Finner, who called it an excellent security arrangement.

Finner indicated that his agency will investigate any illegal conduct that could have occurred during the occasion. He said that they’ve heard rumours of individuals injecting others with illegal substances and he is curious to see what all the fuss is about.

There were videos of the event shared on Instagram stories by Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.

Hundreds of fans were seen surging over barriers and security guards to gain entry to the event earlier in the day.
