About 70 soldiers of Ukraine lost their lives in a new airstrike by Russia on Tuesday in the city of Okhtyrka.
The Ukrainian authorities claimed that it was a rocket attack. The authorities have put blame on Moscow for engaging in “barbaric tactics” and other war crimes as the death toll continues to mount on the sixth day of the Russian military invasion.
Dmytro Zhyvytskyy the head of the region shared the pictures online of a four-story building that was completely demolished and charred in the city.
Okhtyrka is a small western city located between the capital city Kyiv and Kharkiv.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called out the Russian armed forces for invading the country and engaging in several war crimes. According to the reports, 16 children have lost their lives whereas 45 more were injured since Russia began bombarding different areas of Ukraine.
On Monday the death toll from the Russian war reached 363.
On the other hand, the Défense minister of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov has claimed that about 5710 soldiers of Russia have been killed by the military forces of Ukraine. This number has not been confirmed by Russia.
Russian officials did acknowledge that there have been deaths and injuries amongst its soldiers and forces but did not disclose the exact number. The officials claimed that the losses are “considerably lower” as compared to the losses at the Ukrainian end.
The Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba openly accused Russia in his tweet of attacking the city of Kharkiv with “barbaric missile strikes.”
“Putin is unable to break Ukraine down. He commits more war crimes out of fury, murders innocent civilians. The world can and must do more. INCREASE PRESSURE, ISOLATE RUSSIA FULLY!”
In the last few days since the invasion began, the Russian army has faced strict and stiff resistance from the armed forces of Ukraine. This has resulted in slow progress for the Russian which is not what they anticipated.
The war analysts are now claiming that this slow progress might discourage Russia into resorting to many more brutal tactics than the direct attacks in order to overcome the Défense system of Ukraine. Russian forces hit the second largest city of Ukraine, Kharkiv with explosions that targeted the administrative block of the city. Russia has started to focus on other cities after the downfall of Kyiv. The capital became difficult and it didn’t turn out to be a piece of cake as earlier anticipated by the Russian intelligence system and authorities.
