According to authorities in Baltimore County, a 33-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the murders of her young nephew and niece, who were discovered dead in a vehicle during a traffic check.
According to a police statement, the two children that died were siblings, and Nicole Johnson, the lady in custody, was their aunt. Larry O’Neil, 5, and Joshlyn Johnson, 7, were recognised as the children. Johnson is charged with a variety of offences, including first-degree child abuse resulting in the death of under-13 children.
Investigators have released scant details regarding the case, stating that determining precisely what caused their deaths would take time.
Chief Melissa Hyatt of the Baltimore County Police Department released a statement condemning the act as “heinous.” In a statement, Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. described the incident as a horrific and tragic loss of life.
Police said the vehicle was stopped just after 11 p.m. Wednesday on a main highway in the town of Essex. Officers discovered the corpses during the stop and transported them to the chief medical examiner’s office. According to a police spokesperson, authorities pulled up the vehicle owing to “suspicions” about it.
Olszewski said that they will continue to devote all available resources to our Department’s continuing investigation into this heinous crime.
