The North Port Police took to Twitter to announce that Brian Laundrie, boyfriend of Gabby Petito, is still at large and the search will continue at the wetlands near his home.

The autopsy report came on Tuesday which confirmed that the human remains found at the campsite near Teton-Bridger National Forest belong to Gabby Petito.

The FBI declared on Tuesday stating “Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue confirmed the remains are those of Gabrielle Verona Petito, date of birth March 19, 1999.”

The Coroner had initially stated that it seems like the death occurred due to a homicide. The cause of death will be confirmed after the pending results of the final autopsy.

Gabby Petito was reported missing on September 14th by her parents after Brian Laundrie returned home alone without her.

After the autopsy report, the North Port Police Department shifted their complete focus on Sarasota county, Carlton reserve to find the “person of interest” Brian Laundrie. The earlier search operations had been proven to be unsuccessful. The police department exclaimed that “the current plan is to return Wednesday with a similar operation.”

The police had stated that it has been immensely difficult to locate Brian Laundrie in the particular area despite using K-9s and drones. The reason being the extremely challenging terrain of the area which comprises almost 75% of underwater torrential land.

The Sarasota County’s Sheriff’s Office and FBI have also joined hands with North Port police to search for Gabby Petito’s boyfriend.

Governor Ron DeSantis has also stepped into the high-profile case. He said that he has commissioned Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation to assist in the search. “I have directed all state agencies under my purview to continue to assist federal & local law enforcement qasr they continue to search – we need justice for Gabby Petito.”
