Billie Eilish will be performing in the Pyramid arena on the Friday evening of the 2022 event, which will be held after two years due to COVID-19.
Once Billie Eilish headlines Glastonbury Festival on Friday evening in upcoming year, she will become the event’s youngest solo performer ever.
The 19-year-old superstar announced the news on Instagram, by uploading a picture of herself smiling in a Glastonbury sweatshirt with the message, “2022.”
Emily Eavis, co-organizer of the event, stated she “couldn’t be happier” to hear this news: “This seems like the right way for us to come back, and I cannot wait!”
In 2019, Eilish had her Glastonbury appearance, playing in front of a crowded house. Once her act was bumped from the John Peel platform to another platform, she performed on the other stage. She complained throughout her performance that she’d never be allowed to attend the event as a spectator: “This seems like fun to go to – I would love to go to this crap, my God.”
When Billie Eilish tops the event, she will be twenty years and 6 months of age. Mark Hamilton of UK group Ash was roughly Twenty years and 3 months old when their band succeeded Steve Winwood as the opener in 1997, making him the youngest artist historically to lead Glastonbury. Tim Wheeler, the vocalist for Ash, was twenty years and 5 months old. However, Eilish is the very first solo performer to be chosen for Glastonbury 2022, which Glastonbury officials hopes would make a spectacular return after the pandemic. The event was forced to postpone the 2020 and 2021 festivals. Equinox, a 1-day concert planned for September 2020, was also canceled. Alternatively, on Worthy Farm, the event had a family campground.
