Television host and comedian Bob Saget was laid to rest recently in a private funeral attended by his close friends and family, after his unexpected death. ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ paid a tribute to the late comedian in their segment, with the current host Alfonso Ribeiro. Bob Saget was the original host for AFV and Ribeiro talked about how the show would not be where it is today without him.
“As you’ve heard, the world lost a legend last week and ‘AFV’ lost a family member. Bob Saget is synonymous with ‘AFV’ to this day and this show wouldn’t be the same without his unique sense of humor. It’s been my honor to continue carrying the torch that Bob so brightly lit,” said Alfonso Ribeiro in the latest segment.
Bob Saget was found dead in a room of The Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes hotel in Florida on January 9. There were no signs of foul play or even drug use. He was laid to rest recently with friends and family attending the private funeral, including his cast members from “Full House,” another popular TV show that Saget was famous for starring in.
In their honorary tribute, AFV called their clip and montage of Bob Saget, “Bob being Bob.” He hosted the show between 1990 to 1997, and the montage clip shows a young Saget, his different entrances and moments in between different segments in the clip.
In the earlier days when news of Saget’s death went around, Ribeiro joined several fans and celebrities around the world in sharing condolence messages about the late comedian. He wrote on his Twitter, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend and fellow @afvofficial host @bobsaget today. I had the pleasure of meeting him in the early 90s when the show started. He was amazing. There’s no AFV without Bob. RIP Bob. We will all miss you.”
AFV’s tribute to Bob Saget included the caption, “…Bob was the backbone of a TV show that has gone onto entertain not only America, but the world. Bob made us smile, he made us laugh out loud and, often times, he would make us giggle. A comedy legend. A kind soul. Our dear friend. We will miss you, Bob. ❤ #Bobsaget”
