Brian Laundrie, 23, who disappeared after the death news reveal of late fiance Gabby Petito, and later found dead, killed himself – autopsy reports revealed on Tuesday.
“Chris and Roberta are still mourning the loss of their son and are hopeful that these findings bring closure to both families,” said Bertolino in a press release.
The suicide news of Brian Laundrie came after Steve Bertolino said the autopsy reports are expected to arrive by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Subsequently, a press release held by the District Twelve Medical Examiner’s Office also confirmed the death news on Tuesday.
Last month, the investigators found Brian Laundrie’s remains in a Florida nature preserve almost one month after his fiance, Petito’s remains were found near Wyoming’s Grand Teton national park.
The 23-year-old, late Brian Laundrie became the person of interest in Gabby Petito’s death case after he returned to Florida alone in September. Soon after, he disappeared which elevated the officials’ suspicion.
On September 11, Gabby Petito’s family filed their daughter’s missing complaint, and three days later, Brain Laundrie’s family claimed his missing in North Port. As per his parent’s report, he disappeared with a backpack and left his cell phone and wallet back home.
On October 20, as the case progressed, investigators found parts of a human skull and a backpack and notebook in the nearby submerged area in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park. Later that day, officials confirmed the human remains via dental records.
Previously, Bertolino said to news outlets that they are taking help from an anthropologist to get the remains identified. He further said that “Laundrie’s parents will forgo holding a traditional service for him and will instead have his remains cremated.”
Laundrie was pronounced officially dead on Thursday.
Even though the pieces of evidence pointed at Brian Laundrie for Gabby Petito’s murder, including the unauthorized use of her bank card, Laundrie was never charged with Petito’s murder.
The FBI investigators kept their search going to find Brian’s belongings after finding a water-damaged notebook.
The couple went for a cross-country adventure and recorded their entire trip to post it on social media. However, footage released on August 12 revealed the couple had a fight and made a domestic violence call to officials.
The video also saw Petito breaking into tears and admitting that the two had fought with officials separating the pair for a night, shifting Brian Laundrie to a hotel. Later, Laundrie, in a statement to officials, called Petito the aggressor and admitted that they had “a minor scuffle” but Petito forcefully called for a domestic violence charge.
“I’m not going to pursue anything because she is my fiancee and I love her,” says Laundrie. “It was just a squabble. Sorry, it had to get so public.”
This was the last evidence of Petito and Brian together.
