A potential mass resignation may be on its way, according to the insiders of the White House. Resignations have been pouring in since the Capitol Building siege took place on Wednesday 6th January 2021. Most of the resignations are because of how Donald Trump dealt with the situation, more appropriately how he instigated the carnage to happen. People who have been faithful with Trump throughout his tenure and have defended him are leaving him now.

The first pair to resign is Stephanie Grisham and Anna Christina Niceta, press secretary and chief of staff for the White House. They resigned immediately on Wednesday as soon as the riots happened.

But the wave of resignations continued till the next day and many more are expected. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos and Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao both resigned in the early hours of Thursday, the reason being the Capitol Building riots.  They were among the first to leave in the wake of the Washington turmoil and how the situation unfolded later on.

This comes as a blow to President Trump, as this was just the beginning and by the time the day ended more staff had submitted their resignation letters. Notably; Deputy National Security Adviser Matt Pottinger and Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews have also submitted their resignations according to the sources.

Dr. Elinore F. McCance Katz, Assistant Secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services also resigned on Thursday. With the ongoing unrest among the Republicans, they are blaming Trump for the whole ordeal and the number of resignations is bound to increase. Trump not only incited violence but handled the situation after the riots poorly causing more people to leave his side.

Till the last reports came, Mick Mulvaney, special envoy to Northern Ireland has also resigned along with Anthony Ruggiero; Senior Director for Counterproliferation and Biodefense at the National Security Council. All these individuals blame Trump for causing this trouble and putting the country and the party in danger.

The Head of US Capitol Police also submitted his resignation which will be effective from 16th  January 2021. He was criticized all day because of the situation and how abysmally it was handled, thus he gave in and resigned from his post.
