The development of the more contagious delta variant of COVID-19 has caused a COVID-19 epidemic in the United States this summer.

According to real-time data compiled by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering, over 643,000 Americans have died as a result of COVID-19, and over 4.5 million people worldwide have died as a result of the disease.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, just 61.7 percent of Americans aged 12 and above are fully immunised against COVID-19.

Governor of Florida files an appeal against the ruling on his ban on mask mandates

Gov. Ron DeSantis has filed an appeal Thursday evening against a court ruling that declared his ban on student mask requirements unconstitutional.

The governor had barred school districts from implementing mask rules without giving parents a chance to opt out.

The suit resulted in a stay of proceedings, enabling the state to continue penalising districts until Wednesday, when the judge is going to decide whether or not to lift the stay.

Meanwhile, school board members throughout the state may continue to lose their salary if their schools need masks — a penalty enforced in two counties and threatened in eight more.

The appeal comes only days after Judge John C. Cooper decided that the ban on Covid face masks in schools fails the constitutional test.

One out of every 8 American has tested positive

According to Johns Hopkins University data, the country’s coronavirus death toll has risen to nearly 643,000, with 39.5 million patients.

This means that one out of every eight Americans has tested positive with COVID-19, and one out of every 510 has died as a consequence of the virus.

As we approach the Labor Day weekend, many health experts are requesting the general population, especially the unvaccinated, to be cautious in light of the delta variant’s continuing spread.

Holidays have been found to stimulate viral transmission in the United States.

Last summer, just after Labor Day, the United States saw the pandemic’s most significant viral surge.

Last year, the daily case average in the United States rose by over 400% between the week following Labor Day and Thanksgiving.
