Covid-19 has been declared a pandemic by the WHO, which started in China about a year ago and is now wreaking havoc across the world.

The number of cases and deaths are high in some countries while they are low in others. These numbers are based on several factors. For example, a country with a higher population of aged people is more vulnerable to the disease than a country with a lower percentage of the same age group. So here, the numbers are dependent upon the demographics of different countries, according to Covid world map.

Some of the countries where the disease has hit hard include the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, India, and Brazil.

If we talk about the US, it has recorded more than 16 million cases and there have been around 270,000 deaths as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. These numbers are the highest in the world and are increasing everyday.

Not only has the pandemic brought many challenges to the health sector, but it has also proved to be devastating for the US economy. According to an estimate, around 8 million Americans have gone into poverty since May. The situation is better in Europe as the numbers have fallen after properly implementing SOPs.

As it all started from China, Asia was the first continent to be affected by the virus, but its impact was not so severe there. However, during the summer, India experienced a big hit in terms of cases and deaths due to Covid-19.

Peru has almost reached 1 million cases and it is estimated to have the highest death rate in the world. But the good news is that cases are falling daily.

Africa is a region where it is very hard to estimate the right numbers as it has a low testing rate. But it is estimated to have more than two million cases. In Africa, the country that is the most affected by the pandemic would have to be South Africa. It has recorded 23,000 deaths with more than 800,000 affected people.

These numbers are not very accurate as no one knows how deadly the virus could be, as the symptoms are mild for some people while severe for others.

This pandemic has not only affected the lives of millions of people, but has also led to the damaging of the global economy. People would not only have to worry about contracting the disease, but also about feeding themselves and their families as millions of people have lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
