A majority of Democrats celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) in full throttle without the slightest hint of the organization’s involvement in 2019’s infamous fundraising, racial discrimination, and sexual harassment scandal which largely depended any upon “hate”.
None of the Democrats mentioned the terrorist attack on the family research council back in 2012 in which the alleged terrorist used the hate map made by SPLC in order to target a conservative nonprofit organization for Christianity.
Sens. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., and Cory Booker, D-N.J., along with Reps. Judy Chu, D-Calif., Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and Bennie Thompson, D-Miss, were joined by the possible gubernatorial candidate of democrats from Georgia, Stacey Abrams who went ahead and congratulated SPLC on its fiftieth anniversary. The event was broadcast live on different social media platforms.
“Congratulations to the Southern Poverty Law Center on your fiftieth anniversary, fifty years of defending the rights of the vulnerable, of speaking up for the marginalized, of protecting the disadvantaged,” Stacey Abrams said. “We appreciate everything you’ve done.”
Another Democratic member, Jon Ossoff stated “Thank you for decades of looking at defending civil rights in the United States, I’m deeply concerned, like many of you, by the rising level of polarization, hatred, and mistrust in our society.”
“SPLC is a catalyst for justice in the South and beyond,” Warnock said. “By speaking up against hatred and extremism, by speaking justice, promoting anti-racism and tolerance, and celebrating our nation’s rich diversity, SPLC gets us closer to building a more perfect union, a beloved community.”
“Over the last half-century, the SPLC has been at the forefront of our nation’s efforts to confront hatred and extremism,” Nadler said. “This country is a better place because of your work to promote racial justice, celebrate diversity, and advance the civil and human rights of all people.”
None of the said Democrats mentioned even once the scandal which made SPLC fire its founder Morris Dees back in 2019. None of the Democrats made a comment over their celebration of SPLC’s fiftieth anniversary but forgot such a touching topic which caused quite a stir across the country when it took place.
