Four years ago, when Donald Trump became the 45th President of the United States, people had developed a lot of expectations of him and were expecting him to deliver on his promises. Now that Trump is running for a second-term this time around, let’s have a look on the first-term promises that Trump kept or couldn’t fulfill.
Building A Wall
In this 2016 election campaign, Trump promised to build a wall to stop immigration and he claimed that he will make Mexico pay for the wall. However, this promise of his didn’t see the light of the day. Although, he repeatedly mentioned during his 2016 campaign to build a wall but after assuming office he may have realized the situation better and decided to not fulfil that particular promise for the time being.
Trump being critical of the Obama’s approach to healthcare couldn’t repeal and replace the Obamacare. He did make some revisions to the act, but couldn’t come up with a suitable alternative to it. He understands his failure to deliver on this promise, but in an interview to CBS he expressed the desire for the Supreme Court to put an end to Obamacare.
Bringing Back Troops
Trump in his election made a promise that they will not fight others’ wars and will bring back all the troops stationed in different countries. However, he couldn’t completely deliver on this promise as well but he did make some progress so this can be counted as partially fulfilled.
Peace in the Middle East
Trump during the early days of his first term was confident that he could put an end to the conflict between Israel and Palestine. This again was a promise that he couldn’t fulfill. The confidence Trump had in himself to pull something as big as bringing peace to the Middle Eastern region didn’t yield expected results. But the UAE did establish diplomatic relations with Israel, which means that there’s a win in this part.
US Elections 2020
This time around Donald Trump made big promises and we will have to wait to see how he is going to speed up the economic recovery process, reduce unemployment rate and keep America great, if he wins.
