DJ Kay Slay – One of the most pivotal figures in hip-hop mixtape culture died at the age of 55 here on Easter Sunday.

The legendary hip-hop icon and famous graffiti artist – DJ Kay Slay died after combating a long battle because of Covid-19 inflicted complications.

Keith Grayson – also known as DJ Kay Slay passed away on 17th April at the age of 55.

The reports of his death started circulating on late Sunday evening and later on, renowned music artist manager, Wack 100 confirmed his death.

DJ Kay Slay was hospitalized in December 2021 because of Covid-19 and even went on a ventilator to breathe.

Wack 100 had posted on Instagram that “Pray for my brotha @djkayslay It’s not looking good.”

“He might be mad at me for this, those that know Slay but he needs all the support he can get … Been 14 days fighting Covid and he’s just [been] put on a ventilator. Keep him in your prayers Please. [sic]”

Just last week, Wack 100 had posted an update regarding the health of the iconic DJ stating that he was still fighting.  “He’s been off the #ECMO machine for a couple of weeks now,” Wack added. “Let’s continue our prayers as our brother continues to fight.”

DJ Ky Slay rose to fame with his debut label “the streetsweeper, Vol.1” back in 2003 which went to no.4 on the billboard’s top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart.

His sequel to the first the streetsweeper, Vol.2 was released the next year and went to the position of no.10.

DJ Kay Slay released six albums during his career, the last being released just days before he got hospitalized in December 2021. His most recent album was titled as the soul controller.

DJ Kay Slay was also known as “Mr. smack you favorite DJ” and “the drama king”

Condolences started pouring in from all circles of life as soon as the news of his death was confirmed. DJ Kay Slay fought bravely against Covid-19 but in the end, succumbed to the complications and died
