According to reports, an officer of the California Highway Patrol was shot on Wednesday night while he was investigating an accident on a San Diego roadway.
The anonymous eight-year California Highway Patrol veteran was responding to an accident on I-8 about 6:15 p.m. He got “involved in a struggle with a pedestrian resulting in a single gunshot,” according to CPH Captain Michael Harris during a news conference televised live by KGTV.
According to police, the cop was wounded in the right thigh and was in severe but stable condition.
According to the CHP, the accused shooter was apprehended with the assistance of onlookers.
“There were some Good Samaritans on scene and they did assist in subduing the suspect and we are very very grateful for that,” Harris said.
According to Harris, it was “yet to be determined” if the officer fired his weapon.
“We’re all very hopeful that he may see a full and swift recovery,” the captain said regarding his injured officer.
