The Internal Revenue Service launched its Get My Payment tool, which enables the taxpayers to check the status of their $1400 stimulus checks. The $1400 stimulus checks are part of the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package which was signed by President Joe Biden into law last Thursday.

The IRS has officially started depositing stimulus payments to the taxpayers through direct deposits, but it is going to be a long process and everyone needs to wait for their turn. There are 158.5 million households that have qualified for stimulus checks.

President Biden has announced that it is his administration’s goal to deliver 100 million checks to people in the next 10 days under the American Rescue Plan.

The Get My Payment tool is easily accessible from the IRS website. To check your status, you need to enter your social security number, date of birth, street address, and zip code. Once the system verifies your information, you can receive any of the following messages:

Payment Status:

if your paycheck has been processed, it will show you the date on which it was released and also the means of deposition i.e., whether you will receive it through mail or direct deposit

Payment Status Not Available

if you receive this message; it means the IRS hasn’t processed your payment yet, or you are not eligible

If the payment has not been processed, it means you have to wait for your turn and come back again to recheck. If you are not eligible then check again the eligibility quota for individuals, joint couples and households which is readily available on the website

Individuals qualify for $1400 stimulus checks if their earnings are equal to or less than $75000 per year. For a couple, the gross income should not exceed $150,000 per year.

Need More Information

if you receive this message, it means that your payment has been returned to the IRS via the U.S. Postal Service. You need to update your address in the e-file of the 2020 tax return so that the payment is transferred to you via direct deposit

There is a Get My Payment Q&A sheet also which has answers to almost all the questions related to the stimulus payments and the procedure.

It is necessary to note that this tool is updated once a day, so there is no need to keep checking it every now and then as the update will be accurate and timely.
