To check your transcript online:

  • Visit IRS.gov and log in with your IRS credentials. If you’re visiting the IRS website for the first time, you may require a few steps to verify your identity and it may take some time to create an account.
  • After logging in, click View Tax Records at the Account Home page.
  • Click on Get Transcript on the next page
  • You’ll see a drop-down option asking you the reason for getting a transcript. You don’t need to enter the customer file number, just select Federal Tax and click Go.
  • You will see the records of the last four years in the form of Account Transcript, Return Transcript, Records of Account Transcription, and Income and Wage Transcript. Select Account Transcript 2020.
  • Now you have a transcript in Pdf. Look for the entry labeled Refund Issued with a date of late May or early June.

If you don’t find any label like that, it means the IRS hasn’t started reviewing your taxes to issue you a refund yet.
