Kevin Spacey is gearing up for another screen presence after a four-year hiatus. The actor had maintained a low profile ever since he was accused of sexual misconduct, which he denied. Allegations surrounding his misdemeanor caused Spacey to lose numerous jobs, including his crucial role in Netflix’s House of Cards.

He marks his return as an on-screen detective in “L’uomo Che Disegnò Dio,” an Italian film directed by Franco Nero. The film’s producer, Louis Nero confirmed Spacey’s presence in the low-budget film. “I cast him because he is a great actor,” said Louis in a phone interview with CNN. When questioned upon the numerous accusations against Spacey, Nero vehemently declared them to be false.

In 2017, Kevin Spacey had come under the spotlight for his inappropriate sexual behavior, when actor Anthony Rapp told Buzzfeed News that the former House of Cards star had made a sexual advance towards him in 1986 when Rapp was only 14 years old. The same year, Spacey was accused of creating a toxic work environment at the set of Netflix’s House of Cards.

Interviews with other actors from the show had confirmed Kevin Spacey’s sexually inappropriate behavior, which had become a source of concern for fellow actors starring on the Netflix show. When the allegations against the actor mounted, Netflix fired Spacey from his starring role in the popular show. His scenes in All the Money in the World, an Oscar-nominated film were also edited out and later reshot with Christopher Plummer, the actor who replaced Spacey’s role as John Paul Getty.

Despite several allegations against his name, Kevin Spacey never issued a statement addressing these allegations. He did, however, issue a public apology to actor Anthony Rapp, for making sexual advances towards him when he was allegedly 14.

In 2017, he stated how he did not have a recollection of the encounter, but still gave Rapp the benefit of doubt. “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.” He also expressed his deep regrets for Rapp’s “feelings” that he has harbored all these years.

Before having numerous sexual allegations under his name, Kevin Spacey had been critically acclaimed for his remarkable acting skills and effortless execution of shots to perfection. Over the course of his career, he has won several Academy Awards, including the best actor for American Beauty in 2000 and the best supporting actor for The Usual Suspects in 2006.

With Franco Nero’s new film in the making, Kevin Spacey is making his way back to the big screen. The movie is currently being filmed and is set to release early next year. Although the movie is in Italian, Spacey’s part in the film will be in English. Nero’s movie will also star his wife and Spacey’s former colleague, Vanessa Redgrave in the leading role.
