The Hollywood Diva Angelina Jolie hopes to empower the young generation and children worldwide and wants them to know their rights and “Fight Back” with the help of the book that she has written recently with Amnesty International.
Angelina Jolie has released a book with the title “Know Your Rights and Claim them”. The book is written with the assistance of the lawyer Geraldine Van Bueren, the original drafter of the UN Convention 1989 on children’s rights. The writer and her team, with this book, aim to arm the children with the information to protect themselves from injustice.
In a recent interview, Angelina Jolie said, “So many children are in harm’s way across the world, and we’re simply not doing enough,” and added that “These are their rights, decided years ago based on what would make them healthy, balanced, safe and stable adults.”
The actor further hopes that her book would remind the government of its commitments to the global pact embodying children’s social, civil, economic, and political rights.
In an interview, Angelia also highlighted how many children are harmed across the world. This book discusses their rights and how they can live a healthy, safe and balanced life!
“We spent a lot of time blocking those rights, so this book is to help the kids have a tool book to say ‘these are your rights, these are things you need to question to see how far you, depending on your country and circumstance, are from accessing those rights, what are your obstacles, others that came before you and fought, ways you can fight’. So it’s a handbook to fight back.” – said the woman who is up to support the children to protect their rights.
The mother of 6 also added that she organized the UN convention for her children at her place but was shocked to know that her own beloved country, the US, did not approve of it.
She said this act of the government infuriated her and made her question herself that what does that mean? What is the idea of giving the right to an education when there are still so many out of school? What is being harmed if the girls in Afghanistan go to school?
The book addresses children and provides information regarding justice, identity, protection from injustice, and other harmful acts. It counsels becoming a fighter, an activist to be safe.
The book is equipped with examples of all the powerful young voices from the world, including Malala Yousufzai – the Nobel Prize winner, Greta Thunberg – the Climate activist, and Janna Jihad 15 years old Journalist from Palestine.
On Thursday, the book was made available for sale, and pre-orders started in several countries intending to make it available worldwide.
