After being struck by lightning, Miley Cyrus’ plane had to make an emergency landing on Tuesday night.

As a result of the plane’s reroute, the singer was unable to perform at the Asunciónico festival in Paraguay on the second day.

“To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lightning,” Miley Cyrus wrote on her social media.

My crew, band, friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing. We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay. I LOVE YOU,” Cyrus, 29, wrote with a red broken heart emoji.

On the aircraft, Cyrus recorded a video of the harrowing scene. When she was filming the view out of her aircraft window, a burst of lightning lit up the dark sky and Big gasps can be heard from passengers.

2022 Asunciónico is described on its website as “one of Paraguay’s largest rock festivals,” and it is held annually in March. According to news sources, a large audience was anticipated to attend Cyrus’ concert.

The last time Asunciónico took place was in 2019.

South American audiences have seen Miley Cyrus perform. Lollapalooza Argentina and Lollapalooza Chile were attended by the pop-turned-rock singer in eye-catching jumpsuits throughout the weekend.
