Liz Cheney, one of the most important Republican Senators has announced her decision to vote in favor of President Trump’s impeachment, following the siege of the US Capitol Building on Wednesday, last week. Liz Cheney is a prominent Republican and daughter of a former- Vice President, Dick Cheney.
She has criticized Donald Trump in a video conference call with the fellow Republicans on Monday night. She termed voting for the impeachment of Donald Trump as the “Voice of Conscience” that cannot be suppressed any longer.
Liz Cheney specifically used stinging words in her statement, released after the Monday night conference with the Republicans, and publicly bashed President Donald Trump with full might.
Cheney said, “Trump summoned the mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack”.
The representative from Wyoming blamed Donald Trump for whatever happened last Wednesday, and what events followed. She has strongly condemned President Trump’s actions, calling him the most incompetent president in the history of the United States.
The sitting President, Donald Trump has betrayed the oath and has let down the constitution as well as the nation. She urged other Republican representatives to join her and go against the President; assuring that this won’t hurt their association with the party. She called her decision to vote as NOT POLITICAL. It was a conscious decision, on an issue that has affected her badly, and if she stays silent now, she might regret it all her life.
This is not the first time Liz Cheney has criticized President Trump’s actions. In early 2020, Cheney tweeted against the reopening of the country amidst the dark shadows of the COVID-19 pandemic that encompassed the whole country. Cheney had another brawl with Trump in mid-2020; over the death of a young intern in Joe Scarborough’s office regarding him continuously tweeting and flaming the issue, and not taking serious actions to address the issue.
