After drinking Jose Cuervo margaritas from a little girl at her Michigan school, a number of kindergarteners reported feeling a little woozy.
Drinks from Dixie Cups were served to kids at Grand River Academy in Michigan, on Friday, Fox 2 Detroit reported.
When Alexis Smith and Dominique Zanders heard that their girls had had a few sips of the beverage, they were outraged.
“She felt woozy, a little dizzy,” Zanders said about her daughter.
“The girl poured it in her cup and she drank it and the girl ended up telling her what it is, and she went and told the teacher there is liquor in this cup, and the teacher gave her a funny face,” Zanders said.
According to reports, the student apparently took the beverage to school with her.
A few sips of the drink were taken by Smith’s daughter, who then proclaimed to her mother that her classmate who provided the drink was aware that it was booze.
The administration of the school has stated that, if required, the pupil will be punished. After the occurrence of the incident, parents were promptly alerted.
“While we try to keep an eye on everything our students bring to school, that’s simply not possible,” the school said in a statement
“It’s unfortunate that these types of adult beverages can be easily mistaken for child-friendly drinks,” the school said.
Some parents placed the responsibility on the school, while others pointed the finger at the family of the student who brought the margaritas to class.“If your child knows what it is, nothing wrong with it – but they should know not to touch it,” Smith said. “That it’s not for kids.”
