Starting from the city of Wuhan, the novel coronavirus took over the world within a few months. As soon as the WHO declared it as the global pandemic, all the countries went on lockdown for months to curb the spread of the virus. However, in mid-June, things started to settle, and many economies lifted their lockdown systematically.

Once the travel ban was lifted, many started taking a vacation to bring back some normalcy into their lives. However, as soon as the weather started getting colder, it brought with it the threat of a second wave as the cases started to rise again.

Keeping the situation in mind, the Hawaii government imposed new Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Governor David Ige made a public announcement on Thursday through a news conference; anyone who wishes to travel in the state of Hawaii must have their negative Coivid-19 test results with them. Otherwise, the traveler must observe a minimum of 14 days quarantine in their hotel room or house.

He also added that this restriction would be effective from Tuesday onwards, just two days prior to Thanksgiving holidays.

Until now, the travelers were allowed to give their negative Covid- 19 results on the arrival, if they wish to skip fourteen days quarantine. However, from Tuesday onwards, everyone must upload his or her negative test results to a state database before arrival. If one fails to do so, they will have to quarantine regardless of being negative on the test as quoted by Gov. David.

Restrictions imposed by Hawaii“If the test results are not available before boarding the final leg of their trip, the traveler must quarantine for 14 days or the length of the stay, whichever is shorter.”

Moreover, he also said that those who will arrive at the airport without uploading the test results before their arrival must directly go into quarantine even if they receive their test results shortly after the arrival.

These restrictions are the result of the non-serious attitudes of the travelers who arrived at Hawaii airport without the test. When they took on arrival test, they ended up resulting positive for the novel coronavirus.

Alongside Hawaii, the global community is also trying its best to curb the spread of the virus. It has become a global priority. The only way to stop the virus from spreading more is to increase testing and take precautionary majors until the vaccine arrives.
