New Orleans – a 3-year-old girl was killed by a gunshot in the French Quarter here on Tuesday.

According to the police department of New Orleans, the toddler suffered a gunshot and was taken to the nearby local hospital but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

The details are still hush hush but the police found the wounded toddler at the 400 block of Burgundy street sometime after noon.

The New Orleans Police Department held a press conference shortly after the deadly shooting stating that the little girl was shot dead within the premises of a residence.

Police detained two twin brothers of the girl aged between 18 and 19 years.

Captain Hans Ganthier, the commander of the 8th police district stated that it is too early to determine whether the shooting incident was accidental or not during the press conference.

The investigation has been started. He stated that both the teen brothers and the little girl used to live in the house where the shooting episode took place. He further stated, “I’m not quite sure if that’s their permanent residence.”

According to the eyewitnesses, they saw and later on heard a man running out of the building located on the 400 block of Burgundy with a bleeding girl in his hands. The witnesses also saw one of the brothers shouting “help my sister, help my sister! It fell, it fell”

It is still unclear what was referred to at that time. This is a developing story so stay tuned for more live updates.
