Two teenagers were killed in the middle of the day at an apartment complex in Sanford and the authorities are on the lookout for multiple individuals.

Near Central Florida Regional Hospital, the Overlook at Monroe Apartments was the scene of the incident.

According to reports, late into the night, officers were still at the Sanford apartment complex for ongoing investigations.

According to Eyewitness News, evidence markers have been observed next to a playground.

When the police came, they found two teenagers, one 16 and the other roughly the same age, severely wounded with gunshots near the playground.

They were taken to the hospital, where they both died of their wounds.

“At some point, we have to stop wondering when we’re gonna bury our next child. I didn’t say if, I said when,” Chief Cecil Smith said.

Police are certain that no one connected to the incident is a resident of the apartment complex.

Although they don’t know why the shootings took place, they speculate that it may be drug-related.

According to police, a person of interest has been taken into custody.
