Actresses and sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning aren’t even 30 years old, but already have a wealth of cinematic experience under their belts. Kate Middleton’s distant cousins have already created a name for themselves in the entertainment world, but they’re just at the start of what is sure to be an illustrious and rewarding career. How far the Fannings have gone since their days as child stars is really astonishing.

Fanning Sisters: A True Sister Act

It’s no surprise that Elle and Dakota Fanning have experienced such a dramatic shift from their early days in Hollywood, when they were only 3 and 5 years old, respectively. On several occasions, the two main ladies of Hollywood have walked together along the red carpet, including their debut.

Elle and Dakota are regularly seen together on the red carpet, supporting each other at events or premieres, typically a fashion show. The two of them don’t get to see one other as frequently as they would want, but when they do, it’s a tremendous delight.

The two got their start in Hollywood at the same time, even though they don’t appear together on the red carpet every time. Dakota was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role alongside Sean Penn in 2001’s I Am Sam, making her the youngest person ever to receive the award at the early age of seven. Elle was also a part of the film, portraying a younger Dakota.

Fanning Sisters Through the Years

Dakota had been working as an actress for quite some time. In 2000, at the age of 6, she made her television debut in an episode of ER. During her time living in Georgia, she developed a reputation for being extremely professional on film sets.

Elle, on the other hand, got her start in Hollywood at a far earlier age. Despite the fact that I Am Sam was the first time we had seen a young Elle in a film role, it wasn’t the last time, and this time Dakota wasn’t involved at all. Eddie Murphy and Jeff Garlin co-starred in the 2003 comedy film Daddy Day Care, in which Elle was a supporting character. Her breakthrough came in 2011 with the release of Super 8.

Fanning Sisters: Their First Red Carpet Appearance

Although they’ve pursued divergent paths in Hollywood, it’s evident that their sisterly closeness hasn’t frayed. The Fanning sisters have demonstrated that Hollywood is a family business from their first red carpet appearance together to their most recent one.
