The first session of Trump’s impeachment trial was held on Wednesday. It was opened with 13-minute-long raw footage of the rioters thrashing the U.S Capitol Building, while the senators were seen ducking in to take refuge under their desks.

There were various defining moments of the trial. The defense team of Donald Trump was trying to convince the house managers that this trial is unconstitutional.

Rep. Madeleine Dean exclaimed that Trump’s ‘Save America’ rally speech was 11,000 words long yet the word ‘peaceful’ was used only one time. On the other hand, the word ‘fight’ or ‘fighting’ was used 20 times in the speech. Another Del. Stacey Plaskett accused Trump of being the mastermind behind the Capitol Building insurgency. Plaskett also exclaimed that the protestors were not permitted to march towards the Capitol Building until Trump ordered them to do so. He actually instigated the crowd to march towards the building, even though his permit request was not granted.

Rep. Joaquin Castro from Texas played audio of the crowd chanting ‘Hang Mike Pence’. He explained that Trump had already been disappointed for Pence’s actions and had openly tweeted about him not standing up for Trump’s cause. Castro has claimed that the momentum was set up by Trump, which could have endangered Pence’s life if the mob had not been stopped by the Capitol police officers.

Another footage was played by the House impeachment managers showing how the House senators were forced to make a narrow escape from the rioters. The new dramatic clip showed Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Mitt Romney being ushered out of the building by Capitol police officer, Eugene Goodman.

January 6, 2021 was the day when supporters of former President Donald Trump took to streets to protest against the alleged electoral fraud.
