The news of Christopher Plummer’s passing away at the age of 91, has left his fans in utter shock and dismay. He was truly a legend and a versatile actor, who made his mark with his acting skills. He appeared in more than 100 movies.
Christopher Plummer’s acting career lasted over seven decades.
He passed away at his home in Connecticut where he lived with his wife Elaine Taylor.
Lou Pitt, Plummer’s manager, and friend, paid rich tributes to him, for his love of acting. He had a great sense of humor as well.
Pitt also said that Plummer was very proud of his Canadian roots and he touched our hearts with his humility and art. From Othello to Oedipus, the actor was skilled enough to perform any role with great talent shining through.
He acted in many films, with some of his notable performances well-received in ‘Up’, an animated comedy film, and ‘Knives Out’, a comic mystery film.
His acting in the movie ‘The Sound of Music’, shot him to fame overnight. He played the role of Captain Georg von Trapp in this movie alongside Julie Andrews. Even though the movie is considered a classic, the actor thought the character lacked depth and humor. The movie was about a man who was a single parent of seven children and he fell in love with a nun. The family has to run away to Austria to avoid service in the Nazi Navy.
Plummer also appeared in critically acclaimed movies like ‘The Insider’, ‘A Beautiful Mind’ and ‘The Last Station’. He also got an Oscar nomination for his role in the film ‘The Last Station’. He also appeared in a 2017 production, ‘All the Money in the World’.
Plummer also appeared in the hit miniseries ‘Jesus of Nazareth’.
