Northwest Washington – a deadly shooting episode in one of the most popular hotels in town left five people wounded, one of them is in critical condition.

According to the Washington D.C. police department, five people were shot at a hotel on Thursday night. The hotel is located on Connecticut Avenue.

The spokesman of D.C police, Dustin Sternbeck stated the “shootings occurred at a day’s inn in the 4400 block of Connecticut Avenue, near the university of the district of Columbia and a few blocks from the Van Ness metro station.”

Sternbeck said that the shooting episode took place approximately around 3:30 am. When police reached the crime scene, they found a woman critically injured in one of the rooms of the hotel whereas another woman was found injured in the hallway.

Three other injured people left for the hospital themselves to receive treatment.

Police had declared one of the victims dead initially but later rectified the statement saying that the individual is “in grave condition” but not dead.

According to the sources, an argument during the party resulted in a gruesome shooting episode. It is presumed that the shooting started in one of the rooms of the hotel where there was a large audience and a party was underway.

Police have not revealed the identity of the shooter and the victims’ names are also not shared publicly. The motive of the shooting is still unknown but an open investigation has been initiated by the police department.
