Celebs, journalists, and politicians flocked to the Washington Hilton to attend the White House Correspondents’ Dinner 2022 on Saturday, which will be held for the first time after it was canceled 2 years in a row because of the Covid pandemic in the U.S.
Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend, comedian Pete Davidson, were among the celebrities that arrived at the event, which also included Michael Keaton, Chris Tucker, Martha Stewart, and Drew Barrymore, among others.
White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner acts as a celebration, bringing together major figures under a single roof to take part in roasts and jabs in an otherwise serious environment.
Since its inception, the Correspondents’ Dinner has served as a stage for comedians to make fun of political leaders and journalists alike. Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, and Conan O’Brien have all appeared as hosts on the show.
Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show, was the first comic to headline the dinner since Michelle Wolf, when she stirred outrage with jokes against President Donald Trump in 2018.
As previously stated by the White House Correspondents’ Association, the dinner will provide “the first opportunity since 2016 for the press and the president to share a few laughs for a good cause.”
The proceeds from the event will be used to fund the work of the White House press corps, scholarships for aspiring journalists, and a multitude of awards for those working in the profession.
