Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars – not a laughing matter at all which was not digested by the fellow comic fraternity as well.

The Oscars took place on Sunday where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage out of rage when he couldn’t take a joke lightly.

Various comics expressed their shock over Will Smith’s action and asked for an apology from the senior actor who won his first Academy Awards later that night.

George Wallace tweeted “Will Smith is lucky his momma wasn’t there tonight. She would’ve kicked his a– for acting like that.”

Filmmaker Rob Reiner also expressed his views stating,

“Will Smith owes Chris Rock a huge apology,”

“There is no excuse for what he did. He’s lucky Chris is not filing assault charges. The excuses he made tonight were bulls—t.”

Tommy Chong shouted out loud saying “So it wasn’t staged and Chris Rock could press charges against Will Smith and probably sue his dumb a–! Wow! So surreal!”

Rosie O’Donnell joined the protesting fraternity saying “So upsetting – on every level – bravo to Chris Rock – for not eviscerating Will Smith – which he could do any day of the week – he walked away – bravo from a sad display of toxic masculinity from a narcissistic madman.”

The famous TV host Conan O’Brien stated “Just saw the Will Smith slap. Anyone have a late night show I can borrow just for tomorrow?”

Director Judd Apatow called the slapping incident “pure out of control rage and violence.” He further said “He could have killed him,” They’ve heard a million jokes about them in the last three decades. They are not freshmen in the world of Hollywood and comedy. He lost his mind.”

Just two hours after the slapping incident took place on stage, the Academy issued a statement asking everyone to focus on the winners of the night instead of the unfortunate incident.

“The Academy does not condone violence of any form,” the tweet stated. “Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.”

The slapping incident took place when Chris Rock directed a joke towards Jada Pinkett Smith’s head which was bald and it was not taken well by the couple.

Pinkett Smith had revealed earlier back in 2018 that she was suffering from alopecia where she suffers from hair loss.

The joke was not intended well, or the Smiths were not ready to cater to that kind of joke resulting in the slapping incident which the crowd, later on, came to know that was not scripted but an impulsive action from Will Smith.
