Following the possibility of the US sanctions on Iran that are expected to be worse than ever before, Iran has started to gear up and prepare for all possible scenarios by mass producing their very own domestically designed fourth-generation Kowser fighter jets.
Brigadier General Amir Hatami, the Defense Minister praised the Iranian engineers for being successful in the face of the enemy’s propagandist blackmail, psychological warfare and economic sanctions. He also said that Iran would not be sparing any effort in order to develop defense technologies which are ‘peaceful’ in order to protect their sovereignty. He did however warn, that very soon a number of their fighter jets will be put to use by their air force.
The fighter jets being manufactured by Iran appear to be quite technologically advanced. Talking to state media, Hatami boasted saying that they have advanced avionics as well as multipurpose radar and a fire control system which is linked to the digital military data network as well as to an independent radio navigation system.
At the launch in August of this year, President Hassan Rouhani insisted that these fighter jets were only to deter enemies and their aim was to create lasting peace in the region. In fact, he claimed that this aircraft program was motivated by the memories of various air raids Iran suffered during their war with Iraq which lasted for about 8 years in the 1980’s. In recent times, Iran has suffered repeated threats from the US and Israel. The President claimed that they cannot rely on anyone but themselves and with their minimum resources, they aim to establish security at the minimum possible cost.
The US has recently warned Iran of new range of sanctions which will be targeting their shipping, finance and energy sectors and are expected to come into force this week. Tehran, on the other hand has dismissed any warning from the US claiming that they are capable of managing their economy even under the international pressure. In fact, the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has slammed the US President Donald Trump claiming that he has ‘disgraced’ the US prestige with his economic policy.
The US claims that they have imposed the sanctions on Iran due to their support for militias and their military deployments in various regions like Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon even though the US themselves have sold hundreds of billions of dollars worth of weapons to Iran’s rivals.
