This winter, fans will get to see George Ezra perform at the Union Chapel! Billed as George Ezra and Friends, he will be performing in a one-off show in London in order to raise money and show support for mental health charity MIND. For those interested in attending, tickets go on sale from November 29th 10am. Ezra is set to take the stage on December 18th though the other performers attending the show have yet to be revealed.
Ezra has shared his thoughts about the event and why he decided to participate: “The idea behind this event all started on tour earlier this year where we were collecting for Mind at each show,” He goes on to add: “My supporters and fans helped to raise over two thousand pounds in just over two weeks, which I’m hugely grateful for.” And then says: “Following the response, I thought it would be great to round off the year with a special event in aid of MIND.” to conclude his thoughts. He has also shared that he has regularly donated to MIND for the past three years.
He also briefly discussed the venue: “The Union Chapel is one of the most beautiful venues to play in London and the cause is a charity that I believe are doing truly great things. The night will be a warm and cosy celebration of music and community.”
For Ezra, supporting MIND happens to be personally meaningful venture. The singer has gone on record and talked about his own struggles with mental health, more specifically anxiety. He has revealed that the music video he shared for June release ‘Don’t Matter Now’ is about the constant battle he fights against his anxiety.
He had this to say about the song and what it means to him: “I wrote ‘Don’t Matter Now’ to remind myself, primarily, that it’s okay to want to take yourself away from situations from time to time,” He goes on to say: “In time I realised that it wasn’t just me that was suffering from anxiety, it wasn’t just me that was confused, and that there’s no harm in not always understanding what’s going on in the world around you.”
At present, George Ezra has been active on a podcast also named ‘George Ezra and Friends’. Its guest list has featured some very big names including: Sir Elton John, Ellie Goulding, Niall Horan, Lily Allen, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran.
