Announced on their Facebook page, Creamfields has revealed that the first headliner of their 2019 festival will be none other than world renowned DJ’s Swedish House Mafia. The group is comprised of members: Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello, who are set to close the show on August 25th.
Their upcoming performance at Creamfields is a very huge deal for festival goers and fans alike as it’s the only UK date the group will be performing at for the whole year. Not to mention, the three members haven’t been on stage together since they parted back in 2012.
News of their presence at the festival is the culmination of numerous hints that have been dropped by both Creamfields and the group itself. The DJ’s had been teasing for a while that a return to the UK was looking extremely likely.
The first bit of evidence comes from posters that had been scattered across different parts of the world. These enigmatic posters featured the Swedish House Mafia logo along with the presence of WA4 by its side. WA4 is in fact the postal code for Creamfields. Swedish House Mafia themselves added to the rumour mill by posting a tweet saying: “We can’t wait to be back at Creamfields, WA4 next year!” suggesting a link between themselves and the posters. More recently, hype was generated by screens across Liverpool ONE and the city centre depicting the famous logo.
All these signs piqued the interest of the public that wondered if perhaps some shenanigans were afoot or if Swedish House Mafia was actually going to be getting back together for one more show. Many on social media were strongly hoping for the latter, and it seems that they get to see their wish come true!
The superpower DJ’s themselves seem to have a good feeling about the show. They spoke of their return to the UK and what it means to them: “The UK truly is our second home … whether it be at our very first Creamfields or our last Milton Keynes Bowl, we want to bring it back to the festival.”
Originally formed in 2008, the group is famous for its hit songs, such as “Don’t You Worry Child” and many others over the years.
