As we all know, there have been many unprecedented changes in the local radio this year. Another unforeseen turn took place today and added to all of that as iHeartMedia Milwaukee revealed 97.3 FM The Game. According to Madison, the Program Director for 97.3 The Game and The BIG 1070 AM in Madison, “Sports talk in Milwaukee is about to change.”. The purpose of 97.3: The Game is to show people the Milwaukee is much more than just a good sports town.
Lengthy essay along with sports headlights was revealed at the format flip that occurred at midnight. After that the audience also got to know about the station’s new morning show ‘Drew and KB’, the show that would feature Drew Olsan and an old friend of his, Kevin Brandt, who is quite popular for his part in the morning show on WKLH. Previously, Brandt and Olson had partnered on an afternoon show ‘The Big 920’ on iHeartMilwaukee’s AM sports station.
All local lineups would be featured on the new 97.3 The Game and it will also be the FM home for University of Wisconsin Badgers, Super Bowl 53 and NFL Postseason.
Now let’s talk about the other shows that you can listen to on the new station. These shows include ‘The Crossover’ hosted by the director of Channel 12 sports Dan Needles, ‘The Double Team’ featuring Fox Sports Bob Brainerd and Wisconsin’s Dario Melendez and ‘The Mike Heller Show’, featuring a veteran Wisconsin broadcaster.
You can find 97.3 streaming on iHeartRadio.com, thegamemke.com, iHeartMedia’s all-in-one music streaming and digital radio service and you can also find it on the iHeartRadio mobile app.
The Big 920 will continue to be home of ‘Lucas in the Morning’, featuring Mike Lucas who is longtime Madison veteran, along with national shows featuring Colin Cowherd, Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen. The Rich 920 will also be home for the NCAA tournament, nationally syndicated sports talk, Milwaukee Admirals broadcasts and high school sports. Furthermore, you will also be updated on hockey games, Wisconsin football and men’s basketball on the Big 920.
The change with 97.3 The Game marked the change of a sports station to FM signal for the second time this month. Good Karma Brands began simulcasting its 540 ESPN programing on Nov 1 on 94.5 FM. The Fan, a third sports station in the market is broadcasted on 1250 Am and 105.7 FM.
To increase their audience most of the sports stations are trying to lure the listens from 102.9 The Hog. A setback was suffered by ‘Bob and Brian’ in late October due to Steve Czaban leaving the program. The industry expects Czaban who is based in Washington D.C, to join 97.3 The Game, although this is not confirmed since he has not yet confirmed it.
