Two Aspects That Could Make Microsoft’s Foldable Surface Phone a Winner
Microsoft’s potential foldable Surface Phone is considered as the most innovative device being developed nowadays. Through this interesting new feature, Microsoft could win the battle among all smartphones as it is about to create an entirely new category.
If the two aspects described below are included in this foldable Surface Phone, Microsoft can achieve its ambition of a successful foldable PC/smartphone.
1. Minimum Size and Thickness
Microsoft should ensure that its foldable Surface Phone remains a “pocket” device, which means that it has to be very particular in producing minimal folds. The size and thickness must be appropriate enough to carry it all around.
Microsoft has to take into consideration that the device being created has the potential features of a smartphone, tablet and computer at the same time. We really hope this device is portable yet big enough for heavy tasks.
Producing a 3-in-1 device means three different modes and three different displays. Hopefully, that doesn’t mean three times the thickness. How Microsoft solves this puzzle and wins the battle remains to be seen.
2. Well-Designed OS
The operating system is another area that Microsoft needs to consider. According to various sources, Microsoft is creating a versatile version of Windows that would encapsulate all three modes and has enough power to switch among the three according to how the device is held.
We really wish that means two radically different but integrated OS modes which are capable enough to behave like a smartphone and be familiar as in the desktop mode as well with desktop features such as a taskbar.
Furthermore, Microsoft must learn from the mistakes it made when developing Windows Phone. The biggest blunder made in that respect was that the OS store didn’t even have the basic apps. It also had numerous malware that prohibited functional use.
Microsoft needs to produce a competitive operating system which matches the potentials of iOS and Android if it wants to succeed.
In order to gain its customers’ trust, Microsoft needs to ensure these two aspects so that the foldable Surface Phone reaches its target when launched in the market and buyers do not regret spending their money. We really hope Microsoft meets the expectations this time.
