Woman arrested third time for credit card abuse in El Paso
Arrest of Jennifer Munoz Bird for Credit Card Abuse
On October 9, 2024, the El Paso County Constable’s Office Precinct Four arrested 40-year-old Jennifer Munoz Bird of Las Cruces, New Mexico, for the third time on charges of credit card abuse. Bird is facing a total of 11 charges, and her bond totals $24,500.
Initial Investigation and Arrest
In July, deputies received a complaint regarding unauthorized use of a credit card. The initial victim discovered several unauthorized charges on their card and reported that it was missing from their purse. Through an investigation, deputies obtained video surveillance evidence of Bird using the stolen credit card at various businesses throughout El Paso.
Additional Victims and Charges
While investigating the initial incident, another victim came forward with a similar complaint. It was revealed that both victims were co-workers of Bird’s, and she had stolen their credit cards while on the job. Bird was subsequently arrested on August 5 and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on $10,000 bond.
Additional Warrants and Second Arrest
As the investigation progressed, deputies obtained seven additional warrants related to credit card abuse committed against both victims. On September 5, Bird was located at her workplace in Central Elpaso and arrested for a second time. She was booked into the detention facility on bonds totaling $7,000.
Third Arrest and Additional Charges
Additional video evidence emerged, prompting deputies to obtain another arrest warrant for Bird. She was arrested for the third time on October 9 and booked into the detention facility with a $2,500 bond.
Pending Charges and Potential Additional Victims
It was also discovered that the El Paso Police Department had an additional warrant out for Bird for credit card abuse with a bond of $5,000. The Constable’s Office believes there may be additional victims who are unaware that they have been victimized by Bird.
Previous Charges and Doña Ana County Allegations
In addition to the charges in El Paso, Bird has allegedly victimized others and faced similar charges in Doña Ana County, where she is believed to be a resident.
