Here’s What the Microsoft Dumb Phone Looks Like
In the past, Microsoft was very dedicated to the cell phone industry with a number of smartphones launched including the Lumia lineup. Microsoft also considered taking another step forward and launching a series of feature phones.
The leaked pictures of a feature phone are of the very first dumb phone that Microsoft planned to release. As all the other devices launched by Microsoft, this one also has the Nokia logo.
Even though this is a feature phone, you can clearly tell that Microsoft’s plan was to build a model that was somewhat similar to what Microsoft users are familiar with. This is why it designed the phone with an interface that is similar to Windows Phone’s with live tiles. However, since this phone has not been designed to serve as a smartphone, the purpose of these live tiles is only to display notifications such as messages and missed calls.
To make the phone closer to smartphones, a few applications were installed on the phone such as Twitter, Outlook, OneNote, Calendar, GroupMe and a web browser.
Since this phone was supposed to have more features than a regular dumb phone, it can be said that it was to be one
of the most advanced dumb phones made by Nokia and Microsoft.
Since it was supposed to be a feature phone and not a smartphone, it does not have any spectacular technical specifications. The device is powered by a 1200 mAh battery and has a screen measuring 2.5 inches. The phone is also equipped with a 1.92 MP camera. Though the performance of this phone is not as good as a smartphone, Microsoft still managed to produce a device that is convenient to use and available at an affordable price.
However, this dumb phone was not really launched as the company itself stopped dabbling in mobile phones. Microsoft still has no plans to launch a phone in the future, so it seems like we will never see this advanced dumb phone come to life.
